Uiflow Raises $15 Million in Series A Funding to Revolutionize App Development

In a significant development, Uiflow, a company that empowers teams to build frontend applications using their existing data, has announced that it has raised $15 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Addition, Transpose Platform, and Together Fund, bringing the company’s total funding to $21 million.

CEO Sol Eun on the Future of App Development

We spoke with Uiflow CEO Sol Eun about the company’s vision for the future of app development. According to Eun, the current state of software development is plagued by scalability issues and a lack of accessibility. "Software-as-a-service platforms face the challenge of scaling their third-party development initiative to empower their customers to expand and customize their platform to meet customers’ own needs," he explained.

The Problem with Traditional App Development

Eun pointed out that traditional app development approaches require months of training and certifications, which can be a significant barrier to entry for many companies. "Most enterprise software development platforms require months of training and certifications before anyone can build, which is why the majority of revenue for these platform companies comes from services," he noted.

Introducing Flowlang: A Visual Coding Language

Uiflow aims to solve this problem with its app design and engineering platform, which works seamlessly with existing infrastructure. The company’s platform leverages a visual coding language called Flowlang, which allows users to build apps that work with public cloud services while preserving security and deployment on their own servers.

Enhanced Security Features

Uiflow has recently added support for "multi-page" apps that can be secured behind authentication. Additionally, the platform now works with popular authentication services, making it easier than ever to incorporate security into new or existing apps.

Empowering Dev Teams

According to Eun, Uiflow’s goal is to empower dev teams to start from an ideal user experience and then bring necessary processes and data. "The pandemic and the current economic situation will put many companies in a situation where they have to ‘do more with less,’" he observed. "Fortunately, we see this climate as a huge opportunity to push our vision and product to help more companies achieve their goals in software innovation."

Partnership with Freshworks

Uiflow has recently partnered with Freshworks to allow Freshworks customers to build dashboards for ticket handling in Freshservice, Freshworks’ IT service management portal. Eun revealed that the partnership will launch in general availability this November and come to additional Freshworks products, like Freshsales, in subsequent months.

Beta User Program

Since launching its beta user program in June 2021, Uiflow has seen significant growth. "We’ve users across more than 800 organizations," Eun said. "We’ve closed multiple enterprise accounts, and have also tripled our team over the last 12 months."

Vision for the Future

According to Eun, Uiflow’s ultimate goal is to become the best development platform for frontend applications. This will enable the company to expand into backend development more easily, providing customers with a full stack of capabilities while giving them the choice of what capabilities they want to leverage.
